Haul out

click to haul out in July 2010

When we took delivery of our new boat in August 2004, our Catalina 34 came from the dealer with only one coat of anti-fouling bottom paint. After 2 years in salt water in the San Francisco Bay area, because Letting Go only received one coat we decided we needed to get a new bottom paint job. So in September 2006 we got the job done at the Mariner Boat Yard in Alameda, California.
We were very pleased with their work. They seemed to really care and did quality work at fair prices.
They put on 2 1/2 coats of anti-fouling bottom paint which they said ought to last at least 3 years.
We had them also add a great second bilge pump, wiring, switch and piping for it.

(now called The Boat Yard at Grand Marina).

Note the safety chains between the stands.

They cleaned and installed 3 sacrificial zincs to the prop area.

It was obvious that they cared. They used protective paper.

They also added more paint under the keel.

Back to the water.

Now with 2 1/2 coats of paint we hopefully won't need another haul out for 3 - 5 years.
